City Council Discusses Prelim Budget, Street Improvements, and Beautification; Oaths Taken

The full city council discussed the preliminary 2027 budget for the City of Napoleon during a special budget meeting just before their regular meeting last Monday, August 3.
Councilman Bob Humann presented the preliminary budget while noting several fund accounts are not needed anymore so the funds have been transferred. “We cleaned up the accounts and put the dollars in the right accounts,” he said of the budget committee.
Humann presented the account balances after transfers and also gave fund balances for the economic development, capital projects and other projects. “The economic development fund; a lot is coming from the Main Street businesses,” he said as he boasted them up.
As the council discussed several potential projects/expenses, Mayor Todd Moos said an option would be a possible open ended building to park equipment in, instead of leaving it outside. He also noted the city may need a street sweeper soon, along with a payloader.
The council discussed an open ended building, but some said they’d rather look at doing something with the recycling building. As they made a list of priorities, they agreed a new payloader would be first, as it is used every day.
