City Financials Approved

The Napoleon City Council reviewed the financial report during the regular meeting, which was held right after a special public budget hearing last Monday evening, October 6. All council members were present including Mayor Todd Moos, Clark Haas, John Wald, Mike Heying, Bob Humann, Rich Bjerklie and Rod Kleppe. The council briefly discussed the final budget during the public budget hearing, as no one appeared to talk about the proposed budget. Council approved the financial report, submitted by auditor Harold Rotunda, minus two things in question (pedestrian path and lodging tax fund) and also approved the final budget for 2026, and decided to stay at the capped 3% increase, which would create a projected ending fund balance of $296,668, which is compared to the last year’s year ending of $281,216.
In other business the council discussed what they would like to do with the property where the former water tower was located, in the Napoleon City Park. They said there was a request from the Napoleon Park Board, requesting the property to become three or four new campsites, adjacent to the present campsites at the park. After discussion the council unanimously approved to give the property to the Napoleon Park Board.
