Napoleon Ambulance Holds An Educational License With Stop The Bleed
Napoleon Ambulance Paramedic & EMS Manager Kristen Moos, along with EMT Jessica Grenz are Stop The Bleed instructors and are able to host courses.
“The courses are great to learn how to stop a bleed and potentially save a life from life-threatening bleeding when only a few minutes count,” noted Moos.
Moos recently applied for some grants to purchase Stop The Bleed training equipment as well as Stop The Bleed Kits. So far, the Napoleon Ambulance has been awarded a grant of $500 through KEM Electric Operation Roundup for money to use to purchase Stop The Bleeding Kits to be given to people who take the Stop The Bleed course through the local ambulance. They have also been awarded $2,000 from BCBS Foundation to be used to purchase the training equipment needed to hold these courses.
Moos has also applied for more grants requesting money to use to purchase more Stop the Bleed Kits so we can continue to give these out to participants of the course so they have the supplies they need to potentially save a life. “These Stop the Bleed Kits will be given out to participants for free for as long as we have the funding through grants to purchase these kits,” said Moos.
The Stop The Bleed Kits include: a tourniquet, wound-packing gauze, 4-inch responder flat dressing, gloves, trauma shears, emergency survival blanket, permanent marker, and instructional booklet.
