Napoleon FFA Excels At State Leadership Development Event Finals

The Napoleon FFA Leadership Development Event qualifiers along with advisor, Mr. Brian Schneider traveled to Bismarck on Thursday, Jan. 19th to compete in the State FFA LDE (Leadership Development Events) Championships. The LDE Day included parliamentary procedure, conduct of chapter meetings, creed speaking, demonstrative speaking, extemporaneous public speaking, employment skills/job interview event, prepared public speaking, and the quiz event. The chapter had qualified for all eight events at the district leadership conference in December by placing 1st or 2nd in each area. There are 92 FFA Chapters in 8 FFA districts across the state, so 16 teams or individuals qualified in each event.

In the parliamentary procedure contest, there were two pools of eight teams each in the first round with two teams from each pool advancing to the final four second round. The teams competing were Dickinson, Divide County, Harvey, Hebron, Killdeer, Kindred, Larimore, Leeds, Mandan, Max, Medina, Napoleon, Richland 44, Rugby, Tioga, and Velva

The four teams advancing to the final four were: Killdeer, Kindred, Napoleon, and Rugby. After an intense second round the Napoleon officers were named the state champions with Killdeer being the state runner-up.

Members of the Napoleon FFA officer team are: Teagan Erbele, president; Alyssa Young, vice president; Karissa Mann, secretary; Jazlyn Weigel, treasurer; Ava Moser, reporter; Trenton Erbele, sentinel; Anthony Horner, parliamentarian; Jada Schwartzenberger, historian; and Anna Bitz, chaplain.
