Napoleon FFA Named District 6 Chapter Of The Day
Twenty-three members of the Napoleon FFA Chapter, along with advisor Mr. Brian Schneider, traveled to Tappen on Wednesday, December 11th for the District Six Leadership Conference where the students competed in various leadership activities. Mary Schneider attended as a judge for the district contest.
The main event of the day is the parliamentary procedure contest; where the officers are given a parliamentary procedure problem set involving numerous abilities and they must perform them following Robert’s Rules of Order and the FFA contest rules.
The Napoleon Parliamentary Procedure team consists of Jada Schwartzenberger, president; Anna Bitz, vice-president; Sabrina Haas, secretary; Alexis Schneider, treasurer; Claire Piatz, reporter; Anthony Horner, sentinel; Elodie Kuhn, parliamentarian; Eva Weigel, historian; and Logan Feist, chaplin. The officer team placed first overall and will be advancing to the state finals scheduled to be held in Bismarck on Tuesday, January 7th to compete against the other sveven district winners and eight district runners-up, at which time a state winner will be declared.
The officers were also scored individually and received awards. The officers and their awards were as follows: Jada Schwartzenberger, gold rating; Anna Bitz, gold rating, Vice President of the Day; Sabrina Haas, gold rating; Alexis Schneider, gold rating, Treasurer of the Day; Claire Piatz, gold rating, Reporter of the Day; and Anthony Horner, gold rating, Sentinel of the Day.
Felicia Haas represented the Napoleon Chapter in the creed contest where she placed 3rd and earned a gold award. The creed contest is an FFA tradition for freshmen members.
Elodie Kuhn competed in the extemporaneous public speaking contest where she was the district champion. Elodie will now be competing for the state title in Bismarck at the State FFA Leadership Development Event. The extemporaneous contest is one where the contestant selects three magazine articles, chooses the one he/she is most comfortable with and then prepares a 4-to-6-minute speech in 30 minutes.
Anna Bitz represented the chapter in the prepared public speaking contest where she was the district champion. This qualified Anna for state finals. The prepared public speaking contest is a contest where the contestant must prepare a 6-to-8-minute speech and then memorize it for the contest since manuscripts must be turned in at registration.
The Napoleon FFA quiz team was the district champion in the quiz contest and will be advancing to the state finals. This year’s quiz team and their awards were as follows: Anna Bitz, 3rd high individual, gold award; Elodie Kuhn, 4th high individual, gold award; Alexis Schneider, 6th high individual, gold award; Jada Schwartzenberger, 7th high individual, silver award; and Amelia Moch, 8th high individual, silver award.
The “Conduct of Chapter Meetings” LDE is a parliamentary procedure contest for 7th, 8th and 9th graders. Napoleon was represented by the 9th grade officer team and they earned a gold award and were named the district runners-up. They will now advance to the state finals for a chance at being the state champions in this event and having the opportunity to represent ND at the national level. The team includes the following and their individual results: Felicia Haas, president, silver rating; Miranda Becker, vice-president, gold rating, Vice President of the Day; James Moch, secretary, gold rating; Brennen Bernard, treasurer, gold rating; Adisyn Zubke, reporter, gold rating; and Alexa Haas, sentinel, gold rating, Sentinel of the Day. Owen Woodrow serves as the student advisor for the team.
