Plans Progressing On County Road Projects

By Terry Schwartzenberger

Katie DeWitt of Kadrmas, Lee and Jackson, Logan County engineer, brought the Logan County Commissioners up to date on a couple of upcoming proposed road projects. The update was given during the regular monthly of meeting of the Logan County Commissioners where commissioners John Wald, Blanche Schumacher and Bryan Batsch along with States Attorney Grant Walker were in attendance.

DeWitt said the work on the Burnstad road is on track for construction to take place in the summer of 2028. She also brought commissioners up-to-date on the Turner bridge project. Preliminary plans have been completed with a 24’ roadway. Commissioners asked that roadway be at 28’. DeWitt said they will make the change and plan to run a bid notice with bid opening to be Nov. 12, 2026 for this project. Completion date for this project will be September of 2027.

Logan County Emergency Manager Daniel Schwartz called in via phone to update commissioners on a couple of projects. Schwartz noted that Napoleon Public School qualified for a $5,000 grant from the Foundation For Rural Services. Monies would be used to update the Napoleon School music room as a video conferencing center/digital learning space. He urged commissioner Batsch to have the Gackle School District contact their internet/telephone provider to consider joining the Foundation For Rural Services as they too may be eligible for grant funding.
