School In Need Of Cook, Music & Para; Options Discussed For Lunch

There have been no applicants for the open head cook position for the Napoleon Public School. NPS Superintendent Rich Bjerklie discussed several options for the open position during the regular board meeting last Monday, July 13, when all board members were present.
After reorganizing the board since the annual election in June, where incumbents Grunefelder and Schumacher were re-elected, the board re-elected the same officers of the board: President Taylor Grunefelder and Vice-president Tori Gross. Other members present included Derrick Leier, Corey Schumacher and Shawn Puklich, along with Superintendent Rich Bjerklie, HS Principal/AD Chad Berger and Elem. Principal Whitney Weigel.
Bjerklie said there is an urgent need for a head cook for the school and there have not been any applicants for the position. He also noted we are not the only school in the state to not have a head cook. After calling DPI (Dept. of Public Instruction), Bjerklie said some lunch options include the students packing for their lunch daily, but possibly offer a salad bar and milk from the school; provide a sandwich, salad and milk lunch from the school; or have someone come in and cook certain days of the week and have students pack the other days. He said they would still need someone to be trained in to order food provided from the school, along with scheduling. He said he will update the board.
