Boys Win On The Road

The Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter boys’ basketball team picked up a road win, as they topped District 2 foe, the Strasburg-Zeeland Clippers last Tues., Jan. 20 in Strasburg. The Imperials came away with a 67-53 win.

NGS head coach Logan Klitzke saw his squad come out from the get-go with a strong first quarter, as they jumped out to hold a 6-14 lead with 2:50 to play in the first quarter. With the continued good shooting, NGS held a 9-20 lead after the first eight minutes. Leading the Imperials in this frame was junior Jackson Piatz who had 8 of his 13 in this frame.

The second frame the Clippers cut into the Imperial lead early as the Imperials only led by 5, 15-20 with 6:10 to play in the second quarter. Two minutes later the Imperials once again built a 10-point, 18-28 lead. In the final four minutes of the half NGS only managed two points while giving up 6. As the first half closed with the Imperials holding a 6-point, 24-30 lead.

After the break both teams exchanged baskets early and with 3:00 minutes to play in the third, NGS. . .
