Imperials Cruise To 59-9 Win
The Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter girls’ basketball team cruised to a 59-9 win over Warwick in Jamestown on Sat., Dec. 14.
NGS head coach Paul Erbele and his squad jumped out to an early 8-0 lead midway through the first quarter. The first frame closed with the Imperials holding a 20-0 lead.
In the second frame it was more NGS scoring as the margin was increased to 34-0 with 4:00 to play in the first half. It wasn’t until the 3:09 mark that the Lady Warriors dropped in a pair of free throws to get on the board. Coach Erbele used all his players on the afternoon at the Stutsman County Girls Shootout and all 11 girls reached the scoring column, as the Imperials headed to intermission holding a 41-2 lead.
In the second half, which offered a running clock the Imperials knocked down 12 third quarter points while Warwick scored 5 as the Imperials were out in front 53-7 with eight minutes to play. In the final frame the Imperials tacked on 6 while the Lady Warriors scored 2 as NGS won 59-9.
