Imperials Win At Cooperstown
The Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter girls’ golf team traveled to Cooperstown last Fri., Aug. 14 where they participated in the Griggs-Midkota State Qualifier Tournament.
NGS head coach Terry Schwartzenberger had 6 girls competing, all looking for a chance to qualify for the State Class B Tournament at the end of September. In order to state-qualify individuals needed to card a 91 or better (15-strokes over par or less). The Cooperstown Country Club par is 76 for18-holes. According to coach Schwartzenberger the Imperials started out strong on the day, as they held the team lead all day long. However, as the day went on Edgeley-Kulm pulled to within 10 stokes as NGS came away with the team title with a 377 while EK had 387. In third placed was LaMoure-L-M with a 398 and in fourth was Griggs County with a 473.
In addition to winning the team title, Imperial senior Aliyah Schwartzenberger state qualified with an 87 (41-46) and a fifth place finish. Eighth grader Gabby Ketterling was. . .
