Imperials Win On Parent’s Night

February 19, 2025

It was parent’s night for the Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter boys’ basketball team as they squared off against the South Border Mustangs.

Prior to the start of the contest all NGS boys’ basketball participants and parents were recognized at mid court. Seniors playing their second to last game on their home court were Tristan Schaffner and Eli Ketterling.

The Imperials entered the contest with just four wins while the Mustangs are still in search of their first win, as the regular season is winding down.

In this District 2 and Region I matchup last Mon., Feb. 10 in Napoleon, the Imperials cruised to a 61-35 win.

NGS head coach Logan Klitzke and his squad got off to a slow start as the Mustangs doubled up on the Imperials to hold a 4-8 lead with about three minutes remaining in the first quarter.

The Imperials, sporting full court defensive pressure, turned up the offense in the last two minutes of the first quarter. Leading the NGS charge was sophomore shooting guard Brenden Zenker, who tickled the twine on back-to-back treys, to tie the contest at 10 with 1:29 left in the first. The Mustangs were held scoreless as the Imperials dropped in 9 more points off steals and fast breaks to hold a 19-10 lead after the first eight minutes.

The second stanza played out. . .
