The Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter boys’ golf team has nearly doubled in size from last year.

Napoleon’s number stayed the exact same, with 11, while the G-S School adds nine boys to the lineup, for a total of 20. “It’s nice to have kids contribute to the sports success,” added Assistant Coach Logan Klitze, of Gackle.

Imperial head Coach Kelly McCleary said the goal is to win the region and place in the top six in state this year. “We have the experience and these guys love to golf; they are out here [on the course] all year long,” said McCleary, who noted last year Eli Ketterling and Braxton Ryum tied for 10th in regionals, while the team finished 2nd in regionals and qualified for state last year.

The teams first meet was in Lisbon on April 12, where three golfers attended and senior Carter Haas placed 8th. Klitzke said the first JV meet will be held on Thursday, April 25 in Milnor. McCleary said a home meet is also on the schedule for Friday, May 10 at the Napoleon Country Club.

Senior Haas said as it’s his last year in HS golf, his goal is to place. . .
