Threshing Bee & Antique Show Feature Updates
Antique tractors, parades, demonstrations of farm machines of the past, original skid-steer loaders that led the way to today’s Bobcat, The Lawrence Welk Show and printing the Declaration of Independence are among the highlights of the 51st South Central Threshing Association’s Threshing Bee and Antique Show the weekend of September 12 and 13 at Braddock.
Teddy Roosevelt and Lady Liberty will be at the show and in the parade. TR will present part of the speech the President was delivering when an assassination attempt was made in 1912.
Saturday’s entertainment after the 1 p.m. parade will be musician Scotty Simpson. After the parade, Joyful Voices of Strasburg will present patriotic music Sunday as Lawrence Welk would have done it.
Saturday’s parade will feature tractors from the annual Tractor Trek from Kintyre to Braddock. Farmers Union Insurance Agent Kevin Wolf is the coordinator and sponsor.
Potatoes grown and harvested the old-fashioned way will be dug and sold at 3 p.m. both days.
