Updates Planned For Courthouse
By Terry Schwartzenberger
Logan County Commissioners heard from Shannon Klatt of Central Valley Health District about plans to update their office location in the Logan County Courthouse.
During their regular monthly meeting, which was held last Wed., July 9, Klatt requested permission to proceed with planned updates to the office. Plans call for furniture replacement, updated window treatments, flooring, accessibility (locks) and having an area which would allow for courthouse staff or CVH clients to use for infants and breast feeding, making the courthouse an infant friendly work place, noted Klatt. She also said most of the upgrades will be handled with grant funding. Commissioners John Wald, Blanche Schumacher and Bryan Batsch were all in favor of the planned upgrades. Schumacher said, “This is a win/win for both of us and we’ve had a good working relationship and we should go ahead with this,” said Schumacher.
Klatt asked for any suggestions on finding local workers as plans call to start the project before the end of September.
Lisa Weigel, the county workforce safety coordinator, reported that she’s made inspections in offices and county shop buildings and noted that many of the safety supplies are not immediately available or outdated. She said things such as an eye station, fire extinguishers, first aid kits and safety clothing should all be upgraded. Commissioners agreed to have Weigel move forward with making the updates.
