Imperials Finish Regular Season With Road Win
The Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter 9-man football team traveled to Mott last Fri., Oct. 17 where they faced the Hettinger County Huskies. The Imperials picked up the 50-26 Region 4 win to close out their regular season. NGS now advances to the first round of playoffs and they travel to Alexander on Sat., Oct. 25 where they face the state’s 4th seeded team at 3:00 p.m.
Last Friday in Mott the Huskies had first possession and they scored on their first drive at the 8:16 mark on a 34-yard passing route as Jordan Jung found Mark Fitterer. The Imperial defense denied the attempted PAT pass as the Imperials trailed 0-6. On the Imperials next possession, they turned the ball over on the fourth play of the drive as junior quarterback Bryce Schneider was picked off by Jung. The Imperial defense forced the Huskies to punt after three plays. On this possession NGS head coach Jamison Fettig and his squad moved the ball 68 yards in 5-plays, capping the drive on a 7-yard passing play from QB Schneider to junior wide receiver Jackson Piatz to tie the contest at 6 with just over three minutes left in the third to round out first quarter scoring. The PAT attempted pass came up short for NGS.
The second frame the Imperial defense had the Huskies turn the ball over on downs on the Huskies 40-yard line. The Imperials put together a 6-play sustained drive which resulted in QB Schneider running the ball, breaking tackles and taking it to the house for a 12-6 NGS lead. The run attempt at the PAT was denied by HC with 5:56 to play in the first half.
